Hi, I’m Daniel Andara.

I build apps, end to end

I’m a software engineer in Nigeria and co-founder of CogSolins. Since 2018 I’ve gone from writing about music to shipping apps for fintech, edtech, health, e-commerce and government teams, from the first screen to the App Store.

The long way here

I did not start in software. I studied Biochemistry, wrote about music, and then started a music company.

Every step since has been me picking up the next tool the work needed: a website when the company needed one, design and React when I went into tech, React Native when the users were on their phones, and backends when I wanted to own the whole path from tap to database.

Here is how it went.

  1. 2018

    I started by writing about music

    My first job was as a music writer at BixBeat Media. I wrote reviews and artist profiles, and did A&R work: scouting emerging artists and coordinating their features.

    I did all of this while studying Biochemistry at Ambrose Alli University.

  2. 2019

    I founded Nextdayvibes

    I started my own music company and ran it until 2023. We kept scouting artists and built a platform that connected them with their audience, offering promotion, distribution and more.

    I built the company website, nextdayvibes.com.ng, myself. It is offline now, but it was the first thing I ever shipped, and the reason I went into tech.

  3. 2021

    I went into tech, fully

    I started with UI/UX design and earned Google’s UX certificate. Next came web development, through Angela Yu’s full-stack bootcamp and Jonas Schmedtmann’s JavaScript and React courses on Udemy, and after that, React Native.

    Later in 2021 I joined the Zuri bootcamp, where I built UI animations and fast, cross-browser pages. That led to an internship at Zidio Development in 2022, where I built a job search platform in React with advanced filters, Redux and REST APIs.

    // Zidio, 2022: the filter that started it
    const jobs = useSelector(selectJobs);

    const visible = jobs.filter((job) =>
      matches(job, { role, location, remote, salary })
    );

    return <JobList jobs={visible} />;

    Building in a team at Seismic

    From January 2023 to August 2025, I was a frontend and mobile developer at Seismic Consulting Group, working in a team on government, health and AI products.

    We built systems for government ministries and agencies; MindViza, an AI mental health tool for Nigerians; and an AI assistant that writes SOAP notes while a doctor consults.

    Two commerce apps for Strimtech

    As a contract mobile developer at Strimtech, I built two apps: Sira Gift and Promoraa.

    Sira Gift is a gifting marketplace. Vendors curate gifts, and shoppers either buy one ready-made or build a custom gift box for someone they love.

    Promoraa gives vendors everything they need to sell online, much like Shopify. A vendor installs the app, sets up a storefront, picks and customises a template, and gets a shareable store link. Buyers open the link, shop and pay, and the money goes straight to the vendor.

    Across every sector at Azany

    At Azany, I am a mobile developer on a team building B2B and B2C products across several sectors.

    These include ShopAzany, a cross-border marketplace for vendors in different countries, and ShopAzany B2B, its wholesale arm; AgriecomB2B, for agricultural products; and Azany Autos, for buying and selling cars. On the fintech side, there are two cards: MIV (My Island Visa) and AVC (African Vision Card).

    Co-founder of CogSolins

    I co-founded CogSolins, Cognitive Solutions Inc., where we build our own products. Our first, HostCam, has shipped: an event app and disposable camera in one, with guest uploads, shared folders, a photo book and a gift wallet. Now we are building VirtualProf, an AI study companion.

    I also build the Futsolins EduApp, an exam prep app for JAMB, WAEC and NECO. And with Ambidexters, I work on side projects: PurgX, a marketplace for selling things you no longer need, and TheHost, where people list their spaces, chat with guests and take bookings.

    Next, I am going back to school. In January 2027, I start a Master of Information Technology at Miva Open University, and I am learning cybersecurity on the side.

Next up Let’s build something

I came into software sideways. I was studying Biochemistry, writing about music, and then running my own music company. When it needed a website, I built it myself.

That habit stuck. When a product needs something, I learn it. Web led to mobile because the users were on their phones. Mobile led to backends because I wanted to own the whole path, from the tap to the database and back.

I care about the parts nobody sees until they break: loading states, offline data, and a wallet ledger that adds up to the kobo.

I notice the small things that are wrong: a screenshot that only half loaded, an icon a pixel off, a date that doesn’t match the one on the CV. I’d rather fix it now than explain it later.

Once something is agreed, I keep it that way. An approved design shouldn’t quietly change in the next release. Settings that will change go in config, so a swap doesn’t need a code change. I check everything on a phone first, because that’s where most people will use it.

I’m straight about where things stand. If it shipped, I say it shipped. If we’re still building it, I say that too.

Now, with CogSolins, I build products of my own as well as for the teams I work with. If you have a product that needs to ship, I’d like to hear about it.
